Support for Faculty Research

FACULTY RESEARCH, SCHOLARSHIP, AND CREATIVITY GRANTS

Faculty Research, Scholarship, and Creativity Grants are intended to support faculty research, scholarship, and creative activity. They are funded by the Office of the Provost and administered by the Research, Scholarship, and Creativity Committee. Proposals are reviewed in October and March. Faculty may receive a maximum of $2,500 in any single 12-month period. Proposals are reviewed in October and March. The Office of Sponsored Programs assists faculty and staff in obtaining extramural funding to advance the mission, vision, and strategic goals of Carthage College. The office provides leadership, resources, expertise, and vision to inspire the College to continuously improve by fostering a culture of inquiry, evidence, accountability, collaboration, and innovation.

Support for Student Research

Carthage places a major emphasis on student research and scholarship. Early and often in their time at Carthage, students are challenged to perform original study under the close guidance of experienced faculty.

THE Student RESEARCH GRANT

The Student Research Grant is intended to support independent research by undergraduate and graduate students. Students may request up to $1,000 for expenses relating to their scholarly activity. Proposals are reviewed monthly between Sept. 1 and May 15. Contact the Research, Scholarship, and Creativity Committee at RSCC@carthage.edu with questions.

STUDENT ACADEMIC TRAVEL AWARDS

Student Academic Travel Awards are available to support students traveling to academic conferences and events to present student research, scholarship, or creative works completed at Carthage. The awards provide up to $1,000 for approved expenses. Proposals are reviewed monthly between Sept. 1 and May 15. CELEBRATION OF SCHOLARS

The Celebration of Scholars is held annually to recognize exemplary student research, scholarship, and creativity. The Research, Scholarship, and Creativity Committee (RSCC) conducts the review process, which begins in February with a call for proposals.
